Justin Trezza is the Senior Director of Healthy Neighborhoods for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society where he supports integral programs that help advance the health and well-being of communities through horticulture. He works to support various PHS programs including Trees, Community Gardens, larger place-based greening initiatives such as PHS’s “Love Where You Live” portfolio, and strategic projects such as PHS Norristown Green Resource Center at Farm Park and the Philly Tree Coalition. His work impacts approximately 250 neighborhoods throughout the Philadelphia region. Justin joined PHS in 2017 as Director of Community Gardens. Together with his team, Justin redesigned services provided to community gardeners. This was to ensure PHS’s resources are accessible and targeted to best support gardeners in their work sustaining a thriving network of over 180 community gardens, gardens that significantly improve their neighborhood’s health and well-being. Some highlights of Justin’s tenure include: launching the tool library at Glenwood Green Acres, creating the PHS Norristown Green Resource Center at Farm Park and launching the Veggie Rx program, building out systems to leverage and tailor staff resources to best scale impacts of community gardeners and opening the Green Resource Center in Strawberry Mansion to increase PHS’s capacity to provide culturally appropriate seedlings to gardeners committed to sharing harvests with their neighbors.
