Mash Salehomoum (she/her) is an ardent advocate for community empowerment through accessible parks and green spaces. With a background in ecology, Mash’s passion for sustainability knits together with her commitment to fostering inclusive and vibrant public spaces. For the better part of a decade, Mash has been both a microgrant distributor and recipient. She has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of small-scale funding for grassroots community groups striving to activate local parks. Currently serving as Program Manager at Park People, Mash works to support, connect, and amplify the voices of equity-denied communities, ensuring that everyone has equitable access to the benefits of urban parks and green infrastructure. Mash is a proud Iranian-Canadian grateful to be living on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (so-called Vancouver, BC). This upbringing instilled in her a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness between people and nature, motivating her to champion initiatives that promote community cohesion and environmental stewardship. When she’s not at work, you can usually find Mash happily wandering around the nearest duck pond.
